It was a game that will go down in the annals of Patriotes history as one of the best of all times.  A defensive struggle that pitted our Atom team, lead by fearless Head Coach Jim Beauchamp, against a defensively stout Westpark team that had given up only 44 points all season. 

  The first quarter featured defensive stand after stand by both teams.  Westpark finally broke the ice late in the quarter on a broken play where their quarterback was able to elude the Patriotes tacklers to score on a 65 yard run.  The second quarter featured more great defensive play by both teams.  Westpark was finally able to put together an offensive drive which was snuffed by Matthew Campbell stripping the ball away from the Westpark ball carrier on the Patriotes 3 yard line.  The teams broke for halftime with the score still 6-0 in favor of Westpark.

  The Patriotes opened the second half with an onside kick which was recovered on the Westpark 47 yard line by defensive standout Jeremy Gauthier.  The Patriotes moved the ball steadily down to the Westpark 12 yard line behind solid running by Justin Bois d’Enghien and Matt Campbell before Westpark intercepted a wayward pass by the Patriotes solid QB, Nolan Beauchamp. 

  The Patriotes defense didn’t give an inch, however and when a bad exchange between the Westpark center and QB left the ball on the turf, a quick Yohan Parent-Liboiron pounced on the loose ball, giving the Pats the ball back in great field position.  The Pat’s offensive started right where they left off and Matt Campbell, on four consecutive carries, brought the ball down to the Westpark 1 yard line.  On third down and goal to go, Justin Bois d’Enghien was finally able to punch the ball through Westpark’s D-line for the Patriotes first major, and tying the game 6-6.  The defenses took over again and the game remained deadlocked until the end of regulation, leaving parents and coaching staffs alike, completely frazzled.

  In overtime, fatigue caught up to the two defenses and the Patriotes offense took advantage of a weary Westpark defensive corps, putting on the razzle-dazzle on their first play of their first possession by running an end around reverse with Matt Campbell carrying the ball all the way into the end zone, shocking the Cowboy’s defense, and giving the Pats a 12-6 lead.  Westpark’s offense was up to the challenge, though, and they replied with a score of their own on a first play sweep, knotting the score again at 12-12.

  On the Patriotes second possession Justin Bois d’Enghien was the workhorse, carrying the ball 4 times and getting the Patriotes inside the 15 yard line before Matthew Campbell scored on another end around reverse.  Matt then added 2 more points with a successful convert and giving the Pats a 20-12 lead.  The Westpark offense came back on with a chance to once again tie the game.  They moved the ball steadily and gained a first down on the Patriotes 3 yard line.  The Patriotes defense stuffed an attempted run up the middle on first down and a miscue by the Cowboy’s QB dropped the ball back to the 5 yard line.  The Patriotes defense was up to the task on 3rd down, stopping a sweep behind the line of scrimmage.  The Patriotes defense held on 4th down, an incomplete pass in the end zone, and sealing the victory 20-12, much to the delight of the boisterous and highly supportive Patriotes fans.  Next stop, the NSFL final versus the Lakeshore Cougars!

  Il était un match qui restera dans les annales de l'histoire des Patriotes comme un des meilleurs matchs disputer.  Une lutte défensive entre notre équipe d'Atome, dirigé par intrépide entraîneur chef Jim Beauchamp, et les Cowboys de Westpark, un club qui avait donné seulement 44 points en 10 matchs dans la saison régulière.   

  Le premier quart avait commencé avec des arrêts défensifs par les deux équipes.  Westpark ont brisé la glace à la fin du quart sur un jeu cassée où leur quart arrière a réussi à éluder les plaquers des Patriotes, sur une longue course 65 verges.  Le deuxième quart mettait les défenses en vedette encore.  Westpark ont réussi à monter une autre attaque offensive et ils ont avancer le ballon jusqu’au ligne de 3 verges des Patriotes avant Matthew Campbell des Patriotes à réussi d’enlever le ballon de le porteur de ballon des Cowboys.  Les équipes sont allez reposer a la demi avec le score encore 6-0 en faveur de Westpark. 

  Les Patriotes ont commencé le deuxième demi avec un botté de départ court, qui a été récupéré sur la ligne de 47 de Westpark par le défenseur remarquable des Patriotes, Jeremy Gauthier.  L’offense des Patriotes ont avancé le ballon progressivement vers la ligne de  12 de Westpark derrière exécution solide en de Justin Bois d'Enghien et Matt Campbell avant que Westpark intercepte une passe par le quart arrière solide des Patriotes, Nolan Beauchamp.

  La défense des Patriotes n'ont pas donné cependant un pouce, et lorsqu'un mauvais échange entre le centre de Westpark et le QB, un alerte Yohan Parent-Liboiron à sauter sur le ballon, donnant les Patriotes en très bonne position.  L’offensive des Pats est commencée à nouveau où ils se sont arrêtés et Matthew Campbell, sur quatre porters consécutifs, est emmené le ballon à la ligne de 1 verge de Westpark.  Sur troisième essai, Justin Bois d'Enghien a été enfin capable de percer la ligne défensive des Cowboys et à marquer le premier touché des Patriotes pour faire l’égalité 6-6.  Les défenses sont prit à nouveau et le match est resté égale jusqu'à la fin du temps régulier, laissant les parents, supporteurs et les entraîneurs, complètement essoufflé. 

  En temps supplémentaires, la fatigue était évidente au deux corps défensifs.  Les Patriotes ont profité de l’opportunité sur leur première possession en exécutant un « reverse » avec Matthew Campbell transportant le ballon dans la zone de toucher, choquant la défense des Cowboys et donnant les Patriotes l’avance 12 à 6.  L’offense de Westpark était à relever le défi, toutefois, et ils ont répondu avec un score de leur propre sur leur premier jeu, créant le noeud à 12-12. 

  Sur la deuxième possession des Patriotes Justin Bois d'Enghien a pris charge, transportant la balle 4 fois en obtenant un premier essai pour les Patriotes à l'intérieur de la ligne 15 verges avant que Matthew Campbell a marqué son deuxième touché sur un autre « reverse ».  Matthew a ensuite ajouté 2 points de plus avec une botté réussie, donnant les Patriotes une avance de 20-12.  Westpark sont retourné sur le terrain avec une chance de faire l’égalité encore une autre fois.  Ils ont bien avancé le ballon et se sont trouvés avec un premier essai sur la ligne de 3.  Les Patriotes ont arrêté,  sans gain, une course au milieu sur le premier essai et sur le deuxième essai le quart arrière des Cowboys à trébucher et ils se sont reculés à la ligne de 5 verges.  La défense des Patriotes ont arrête une course à l’extérieur en arrière de la ligne de mêlé. Sur 4e essai, Les  Patriotes sentait la victoire.  Une passe incomplète dans la zone de but a scellé la victoire 20-12, à la joie des fans des Patriotes, qui était très bruyant toute l’après-midi.
